Many people find that they have neck pain when cycling for long periods. This may be due to an incorrect position on the bicycle, or the cyclists are too stretched out.

The solution to this problem is to focus on adjusting your head position on your bicycle. In order to achieve that, you can increase the height of the handlebar by adding pads at the top to increase the maximum height; pads are best placed at the bottom of the stem. In addition, you can also reduce the distance from the saddle to handlebars in order to reduce the movement of the shoulders and neck.

2. Hand pain

If you feel pain or numbness in your hands, you may have put too much weight and pressure on your hand or too much bend in your wrists. This pain often comes after long trips when you hold your hand in the same position for an extended period of time.

Try this: Changing the position of the bike structure to reduce pressure on hands and redistribute body weight. The first thing you need to check is the saddle tilt. If it’s a little nose down, it can put too much body weight on your hands. Handlebar that are too low also can cause hand pain. Also, try using grips, gloves to reduce the sock efficiently.

Again, the solution to this pain is to do the bike fit. You can gently pedal to warm up the knee and joint muscles for about 15 minutes before starting the trip; The more you warm up, the less injury will be. Thoroughly analyze your bike setup to make sure your knees are free from the maximum impact.

5. Foot pain

It sometime comes due to cleat position and/or shoes fit. Especially when you are doing physical activities after a long period of no exercises. Or it could be due to excessive strain on the calf muscles and increased pressure on the heel area.

Try this: take a few day’s rest, and apply ice every 4 – 8 hours. In cases when your feet feel numb, one solution is to loosen your shoes for better circulation; or buy a new pair of shoes more spacious.
