Bike frame without kickstand mount
For bike frame without kickstand mount, you have to buy the adjustable kickstand with clamp. We assemble it by tighten the clamp directly to the chain-stay.
This type of kickstand can be fit and adjust the position easily follow your requirement. However, the weight is heavier than other types. Besides that, clamping the kickstand to the chain-stay will make the chain-stay scraped. In some cases, it can dent the chain-stay. If we don’t assemble carefully enough, the kickstand can be turned around and chain-stay can be broken down.
Bike frame with kickstand mount
Some other bike frames are welded the extra-place for kickstand mount in chain-stay. That is the additional sheet of metal with holds used to clamp kickstand with the two screws. We can use the normal kickstand without clamping.
The purpose of installing kickstand mount to metal plate is to prevent broken chain stay. However, when a strong impact affects the kickstand, the metal plate is bend easily, even fractured in the weld. For fastidious bike fans, the exposed metal plate destroys the slimness of the bike, and makes them unhappy.
