Driving in Vietnam is very challenge because of its traffic nightmare. This, in turn, results in many accidents, kills many people every day. At that time, people must be aware and well prepared when participating in traffic, especially when driving next to the "tyrannosaurs" like trucks or containers. From Asama team, we will share with you some suggestion for the safest way of travelling on the road.

Staying out of trucks’ blind spots

There always have vehicle blind spots on the road. The blind spots are even bigger with trucks and containers. It is very dangerous if you accidentally enter vehicle blind spots when driver begins to change direction. To ensure safety, you absolutely should not get too close or sticking behind trucks or containers. If they start to change direction, make sure to keep a distance with them, wait them to turn then continue to ride.

Give way to turning trucks

It’s extremely difficult for trucks and containers to turn around since it requires a large space and long time, not easy as a bicycle or a motorcycle. If you accidentally encounter a truck or container when in traffic, you should stay away from 10 - 15m, wait until the driver has successfully turned around, then continue moving. Also, when seeing a truck or container asking to change lanes, drivers or bicyclists should drive slowly, share the road with large vehicles.

Avoid crossing near a bend

Trucks and containers always have to pull long wagons and carry heavy loads, which makes them become bulkier and take a lot of space when turning near a bend. Do not be hurry in that moment. If you’re not patient, you will be at risk of colliding with trucks or containers. Please be patient and give way to big vehicles to avoid unfortunate situations.

Avoid crossing in front of a Truck

Sometimes you are in a rush to work or have urgent works that is forced to pass a large truck, do not forget the effective assistant on your bike is the "turn signal light”. If you want to cross in front of a truck safely, make sure to turn on the turn signal light, do it quickly and decisively because once you hesitated, you could easily fall into blind spots of large vehicles; keep your distance from them as far as possible. Also, please say no to turning or passing when you’re in blocked view position.

Never follow a truck too closely

It all boils down to this. The most important thing for a bike or motorbike riders is never get too close to trucks and containers. Always keep your distance far away from large vehicles to avoid unfortunate situations.
